DCFS Will Provide Additional Benefits to SNAP Beneficiaries in January

Christmas brings some great news for SNAP beneficiaries. To send out more SNAP payments in January, the federal government has given its permission.

When will the emergency allotments arrive on the EBT cards of the recipients? The benefits should be available to cardholders on Sunday, January 8, according to the Department of Children and Family Services.

DCFS offered the following details to owners of EBT cards:

  • A bonus will be given to SNAP beneficiaries whose home size prevents them from getting the maximum benefit amount.
  • Families that already receive the highest benefit allotment possible for their family size will get $95.

The supplementary allotment for your family size will be distributed to you on a continuous weekly basis as your applications are accepted, according to DCFS, for individuals who have registered for a SNAP but have not yet been approved.
