China has warned to employ unnamed “countermeasures” against nations that have implemented new pandemic travel regulations against visitors arriving from the Chinese mainland and, in a few cases, Hong Kong and Macau.
China’s ministry of foreign affairs criticized a rising number of governments on Tuesday for trying to apply additional testing requirements and other restrictions on travelers from China.
As per Mao Ning, a ministry official, “certain nations have implemented entry restrictions targeting just Chinese travelers.” “This lacks scientific support, and several of the methods are wrong.”
Chinese officials are exploring “countermeasures based on the concept of reciprocity,” according to Mao Ning.
The majority of nations, including the US, UK, Canada, France, Spain, and Qatar, are only asking travelers from China to present a negative COVID-19 test certificate before catching a plane, regulations that simply mimic China’s epidemic travel regulations.
Without their citizenship, nationality, or level of immunization, all travelers from China are bound to the testing requirement.
Governments from all around the world have indicated warning over the lack of information coming out of China and concern that the government is covering the scale of the expanding outbreak there.
