Low-income families may get more food to satisfy their dietary needs with the help of the CalFresh Program, also known as Food Stamps.

Farmers Markets and food stores that accept the card may be accessed using the Electronic Benefit Transfer, or EBT card used to get CalFresh benefits.

Homeless, aged, and handicapped people may buy prepared meals from participating businesses using their EBT cards said benefits from CalFresh do not expire over time. As an alternative, they have a set certification period after which you must confirm your eligibility.

Following the application procedure, the county office will certify a household’s eligibility and later provide permission for it to receive CalFresh benefits for a certain period of time.

CalFresh Certification: Who is Eligible?

Marca said Californians are eligible for CalFresh if their current bank balance is under $2,000, or $3,000 if they live with a household member who is over 60 or disabled.

As long as they have had legal status in the US for five years, are current receiving assistance linked to a handicap, or are under 18 and have been legally admitted to a place of legal residency, immigrants who reside in California are also eligible.

There are additional conditions to complete in order for those over 60 to use a California EBT card to pay for low-cost meals in restaurants.

Additionally, if they match the criteria, students in higher education who are between the ages of 18 and 49 may also be eligible.
