Authorities said a Facebook ad offering free boy’s baby clothes in April 2019 enticed Marlen Ochoa-Lopez to the home of Piotr Bobak’s ex-girlfriend Clarisa Figueroa and her daughter Desiree Figueroa.

Police reported that Ochoa-Lopez was strangled to death, her baby was forcibly removed, and her body was hidden in a trash bin. On the day Lopez disappeared, Clarisa contacted 911 to report that she had just given birth and the child wasn’t breathing. The police were prompted by an anonymous tip to examine the baby’s DNA, as reported in The Chicago Sun-Times.

Marlen Ochoa-Lopez allegedly went to a home in the 4100 block of 77th Place the day she went missing, police sources said.

According to prosecutors, when police arrived to search the house, they saw Bobak hosing down a rug with bleach, and he dropped the bleach bottle before entering. Although the Ochoa-Lopez family expressed hope through a spokeswoman when the baby was transferred to a hospital, his medical condition was critical, and he passed away shortly after.

According to Law and Crime website, Bobak pleaded guilty to helping clean up the scene of a pregnant woman’s alleged murder, where the police claim the victim’s baby was “forcibly removed.” According to his lawyer Jeff Steinback, the defendant was “used” and deceived by the Figueroas and had no knowledge of the murder. As a result of Bobak’s guilty plea for impeding justice, the prosecution dismissed its charge of concealing a homicide and sentenced him to four years of prison time.

Arnuful Ochoa, Ochoa-Lopez’s father, said in an interview, “I disagree, but there is nothing we can do. Unfortunately, that’s how the laws work in this country. They are just giving him the opportunity to continue committing crimes.”
