Are You Qualified for the California Earned Income Tax Credit?

California Earned Income Tax Credit or CalEITC program offers support for low-income, working residents of California. You might be eligible to receive up to $3,417 cash back or tax reduction. Diaro AS revealed the 2023 CalEITC payment will be distributed to working Californians. The payment will be distributed as a tax credit in either a refund on taxes paid or a deduction on taxes owed.

CalEITC said the tax credit amount would depend on your income and the number of dependents. To qualify for this program, you must be at least 18 years old, have not earned more than $30,000, and be a resident in California for more than half of the filling year. The maximum tax credit amount will depend on the qualifying children on the 2022 California tax return.

The State of California Franchise Tax Board said to complete the state tax return by downloading and filling out the following Forms:

To determine eligibility, you can visit the CalEITC homepage and access the eligibility and credit information. You can also use the EITC calculator to estimate your credit. The program may also consider you to qualify for the Young Child and Foster Youth tax credits.

The Young Child Tax Credit offers up to $1,083 cash back if you have a child six years old and below at the end of the tax year. At the same time, the Foster Youth Tax Credit offers up to $1,083 if you were placed in California foster care aged 13 or older.
