According to a Monday update to the forecast, north Texas and the panhandle will experience the worst of the arctic blast. When this is happening, some parts of the state might experience lows of minus 1 degree Fahrenheit.
The whole of the United States is expected to be affected by an arctic blast this week, with a burst of colder-than-regular air and possibly blizzard-like conditions predicted to hit the middle of the country. However, in Texas, both citizens and meteorologists have expressed concern about the possibility of the extreme temperatures stressing the electricity supply once more.

Millions of people lost power at deadly temperatures in February 2021 as a result of the state’s power grid being overloaded by 3 harsh winter storms. Moreover, after many days without access to heat, hundreds dead.
According to the Weather Channel, Amarillo, Texas, can experience lows of 1 degree Fahrenheit on Wednesday and even lower levels by Thursday. The temperatures might be as much as 40 degrees below the typical temperature for the Texas Panhandle at this time of year if the predicted lows are reached. Amarillo temps may feel as cold as minus 17 degrees with winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour.
Similar unusual predictions were made for Amarillo earlier this year when a snowstorm threatened to cover the city in an entire season’s worth of snow in one night.
