Angelina Jolie was reportedly disappointed with the missed opportunity and left her manager due to the fallout from the project

However, the movie’s direction changed, leading to Sandra Bullock and George Clooney being cast instead. Cuaron initially wanted the film to be a much more subtle plotline with just one character floating in space, and it took some time to figure out the right technology for the movie. The director also mentioned that he had conversations with Angelina Jolie about the role, but she ended up going to direct Unbroken, and the technology used was not compatible with Downey Jr.’s style of acting.

Her former manager, Geyer Kosinski, was known for being controlling and demanding producing credits and fees for himself on most of Angelina Jolie’s projects. However, he lost favor after Angelina Jolie lost the Gravity role to Bullock. Gravity went on to win seven Oscars, including Best Director for Cuaron, while Bullock was praised for her role in the movie.

Jolie’s involvement in the film could have been a significant boost to her career, but fate had other plans

The incident serves as a reminder that even the most successful actors in Hollywood face missed opportunities and rejections that can impact their careers. Nonetheless, Angelina Jolie continues to thrive in the entertainment industry, directing, producing, and acting in movies and TV shows.

Her latest projects include the Marvel film, Eternals, and the HBO series, The Days of Abandonment.
