Cross-state bidders came to buy estate-related things from the Murdaugh family. According to CBS News, there were over 3,000 people present. It happens only a few weeks after Alex Murdaugh received a life sentence for killing his wife and son.

The discredited lawyer was given two consecutive life terms by a court earlier this month for killing his wife and son, Maggie and Paul Murdaugh, in 2021. Along with the trial, competing documentary shows on Netflix and HBO Max followed the rise and fall of the illustrious family.

People who attended the auction informed WJCL that they came all the way from Virginia and Alabama.

According to sources who spoke with Fox News Digital, Christy acquired items from the Murdaughs’ hunting estate in Islandton, South Carolina, including pillows with a snakeskin print and Maggie Murdaugh’s initials embroidered on them.

Another customer mentioned wanting to buy Christmas presents for relatives who were following the recent double homicide trial of Alex Murdaugh.

According to WJCL, items at the auction included furniture that sold for $30,000 and mounted antlers for $10,000. The other items for sale were the family’s clothing, picture frames, and hunting gear. Even on TikTok, people discussed their experiences at the auction.

It was unclear how the auction’s proceeds would be allocated. Insider’s request for comment from Liberty Auction was not immediately reacted to.

According to a local FOX affiliate, a portion of the money raised from the sale of the Murdaugh home would be used to pay for the legal expenses of Alex Murdaugh, as well as those of his surviving son Buster and the victims of a boat tragedy in 2019 for whom Paul Murdaugh was generally held responsible.

After Alex Murdaugh was found guilty of killing his wife and children in Moselle in 2021 by a Colleton County, South Carolina, jury on March 2, some spectators made remarks about the peculiar nature of the event.

In the Lowcountry of South Carolina, the disgraced personal injury attorney is also going on trial for 99 alleged financial crimes stemming from 19 different indictments. He is charged with stealing around $9 million from the clients and the personal injury law practice of his family.
