On January 6, 2021, a man was seen carrying what seemed to be a hammer outside the US Capitol and fought the FBI in a standoff for hours before being arrested for his involvement in the incident, according to law enforcement sources.
Eric Christie was arrested by the FBI on Thursday after he resisted arrest for several hours after they reached a residence in Sherman Oaks, California. His arrest was confirmed by two law enforcement authorities.
Images showing Christie on top of a police car on the east side of the Capitol, dressed in a rainbow flag, with what looks to be a hammer hanging from his belt, have led online sleuths to identify him as a Jan. 6 participant. At a location connected to Eric Christie, there was a police investigation.
In another case from January 6, a defense lawyer earlier mentioned Christie, calling him a “suspect actor” and asking why he wasn’t arrested yet. In February 2021, he was revealed to the public by anti-fascist activist and security expert Chad Loder.
Christie, another Jan. 6 defendant, Gina Bisignano, and a rioter known as “Swedish Scarf” who has been accused alongside Daniel “D.J.” Rodriguez, who accepted to the FBI that he used a stun gun to stab former police officer Michael Fanone on Jan. 6, were all Trump supporters who were seen at his rallies in the Los Angeles region.
