A parking lot in New York City falls, injuring several individuals and killing one of them

On Tuesday afternoon, a section of a parking lot in Manhattan fell, injuring numerous individuals and killing a minimum of one.

The parking lot is reportedly situated at 57 Ann Street, near Nassau Street and William Street, according to local media. At about 4:15 p.m., the four-story building’s floors allegedly fell.

Six employees were reportedly present, according to fire officials. 4 of them were sent to the hospital in a safe state, 1 declined medical assistance, and 1 was officially determined dead. It’s thought that each person in the parking garage is still there.

A “structural fall” is how the NYPD defined the incident. Engineers are being sent out to inspect the structures close by.

The parking lot allegedly had an unclear infraction in 2003 and had ongoing approvals for electrical services on the property, according to the NYC Department of Buildings.
