Due to Gov. DeSantis’ “extremist policies,” a Florida group issued a travel alert to the LGBTQ community

This Wednesday, the LGBTQ community’s human rights group in Florida released a travel alert for the Sunshine State.

Equality Florida claimed it made the “extraordinary step” in response to a flow of safety concerns after the approval of laws that “are threatening to the LGBTQ community, limit freedom of sexual health care, eliminate gun control laws, promote prejudice based on race, and assault educational institutions by restricting books and controlling curriculum.”

The alert, which was published on the group’s website, highlighted threats to the “health, security, and independence” of individuals thinking about visiting or moving to the state.

“When a group that has invested years working to enhance Florida’s image as a pleasant and beneficial place to reside, work, and visit, it’s with deep sorrow that we have to react to individuals requesting whether it is secure to make trips to Florida or stay in the state when legislation continues to remove out basic rights and freedoms,” Equality Florida Executive Director Nadine Smith declared in a statement.
