Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan district attorney, is suing Jim Jordan regarding the investigation into the Trump charges

On Tuesday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg challenged Rep. Jim Jordan in an unusual step to stop what he claims is a “clear strategy of pressure and attack” regarding his accusation of former President Trump by the House Judiciary Committee.

The committee’s chair, Jordan (R-Ohio), had ordered or wants to produce documents as part of an inquiry into how Bragg handled the case, which is the initial criminal charge of a former U.S. president. Bragg, a Democrat, is requesting the judge to dismiss the subpoenas.

The lawsuit’s rapid conclusion was rejected by U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil, a Trump nominee and former bankrupt court judge, on Tuesday. On April 19, a day when the committee intends to examine a significant former attorney who worked on the Trump inquiry, she set up an introductory hearing in Manhattan.

After weeks of verbal and written exchanges with Jordan and other Republican senators, Bragg filed a lawsuit to stop what it calls a “lawfully harmful fishing operation” that it claims is harming the integrity and sovereignty of a state-level investigation.
