Ruling on the Suspension of Mifepristone as a Legal Abortion Pill
Ocasio-Cortez in a CNN interview said the ‘ruling on the suspension of the legalization of mifepristone is a mockery of our democracy and a mockery of our law.’ Ocasio-Cortez considers the ruling an extreme abuse of power and an example of judicial overreach.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not the only Democrat who wants to petition the president to ignore the said ruling. Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden said on Friday he believes the President’s administration and the Food and Drug Administration have the power to ignore the ruling against the suspension of the legalization of Mifepristone.
Xavier Becerra, Health and Human Services Secretary did not discharge the possibility that the President of the United States of America will ignore the court’s ruling on the suspension of the legalization of Mifepristone.
The Department of Justice already filed an appeal regarding the suspension of Mifepristone. A judge in Washington also issued a contradictory ruling with regard to the suspension. However, many Democrats did not dismiss the possibility that the president will ignore the ruling for the suspension.
