Attacks on West Virginia’s “ridiculous” law prohibiting guys from participating in girls’ sports are being led by California

California is taking the charge in the battle over a West Virginia law that forbids genetic males from participating in girls’ sports, which has reached the Supreme Court.

In an additional brief filed on Tuesday in the case B.P.J. v. West Virginia State Board of Education, California’s Democratic Advocate General Rob Bonta referred to the West Virginia legislation as a “ridiculous legislative attempt attacking transgender school students.”

According to a statement from Bonta, it is illogical and hazardous to prohibit transgender primary school students from leading normal lives through legislation. “No child must be excluded from having a typical upbringing or from participating in school sports due to their gender.”

“My office is dedicated to protecting the rights of all people if they’re in Florida, West Virginia, or somewhere else.

Lainey Armistead, a West Virginia soccer player, filed the Supreme Court the previous month, giving the court’s 9 justices its 1st chance to speak on the sensitive issue of transgender athletes in girls and women’s sports.
