Charles Jenkins Indicted for Illegal Acquisition of Machine Guns

Charles Jenkins, a sheriff in Fredrick Country, Maryland was indicted and accused of the alleged scheme of purchasing illegal machine guns. Jenkins has been the country’s sheriff for 17 years and now he has been accused of a scheme.

In a Wednesday news release, a federal grand jury indicted Charles Jenkins and Justin Krop on a conspiracy scheme to acquire machine guns. Justin Krop owns multiple businesses in Frederick County, Maryland. Despite having a license to sell machine guns, it was alleged that he owns seven guns illegally.

The indictment alleges both men in purchasing illegal machine guns from August 2015 to May 2022 by falsifying documents. Justin Krop allegedly conscripted the documents while Jenkins signed them. It was also reported that they use the guns to be rented by Justin Krop’s customers instead of using them for training and demonstrations.

Charles Jenkin remains in office as a sheriff and will continue to do so. If proven guilty, Jenkin and Krop face a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment in federal prison for violating federal law. On the other hand, Justin Krop would also be facing a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment for his illegal possession of firearms
