In a short segment of Tuesday night’s show, Rachel Maddow of MSNBC explained why her show decided not to run President Trump’s post-arrest speech at Mar-a-Lago.
Maddow added, “I need to let you know that the former President is speaking tonight at his house in Florida. “We’re able to determine and in terms of what we are ready for today, he is simply repeating his usual claims and accusations against his imagined opponents in this address. It has just begun. He has only so far mentioned his usual complaints. We don’t think that’s always interesting, and broadcasting intentionally false information has consequences for us as a news company. Our agreement is with you to keep an eye on these comments. We would flip them over and report on whatever he says is newsworthy. But for now, just be aware that it’s occurring and we’re not accepting it.”
Both CNN and Fox News live-streamed Trump’s statement.
The panel conversation on MSNBC was never interrupted to cover any section of Trump’s remarks.
