Utah Gymnastics Studio Owner Arrested

On March 22, Adam Jacobs was arrested following an investigation of illegal recording that started on March 3. According to Fox News, someone noticed a recording device disguised as a cellphone charging block in the USA Gymnastics World’s unisex bathroom.

The indictment reveals that the camera was pointed directly toward the toilet in the restroom with a full and unimpeded view. Police added that the footage could be traced back to October 2022 and captured mostly children who were undressing and using the toilet.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant in his home upon Jacobs’ arrest. There, they found “additional evidence” for the case although the police refused to elaborate on what they recovered.

Privacy Concerns in the Utah Gymnastics Studio

Woods Cross police said in a press release that the identities of all victims are known to law enforcement and shall be contacted regarding the case. One of the victims’ mothers said in an interview with KSL NewsRadio that their experience had been a punch to the gut given the fact that they trusted Jacobs with their children.

For now, Jacobs was charged with sexual exploitation of a juvenile on 24 charges and voyeurism on 15 counts. Although he co-owned the gym with another guy, police think he acted alone and that no other staff was involved.
