After entering hospice care, Jimmy Carter’s niece provides health update on former president

Jimmy Carter’s niece, Leanne Smith, provided a report on his condition a little more than a week after the 98-year-old former president entered hospice care.

Smith said her uncle has a fantastic day on Sunday in an interview with Fox News Digital (February 26th). She dropped by and gave him hot soup for dinner. Smith remarked about Carter, “He’s got some time in him. Just the way I feel.”

Instead of attempting further medical treatment, the former President chose to enter hospice care. Jimmy Carter, a previous president of the United States, was “chosen today to enjoy his final hours at home with his family and get hospice care rather than extra medical treatment,” according to a tweet from The Carter Center. “His family and medical staff are fully behind him. The Carter family requests privacy at this time and is touched by the concern expressed by his loyal following.

Kim Fuller, another niece of Jimmy Carter, delivered a speech at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, where he once worked as a teacher. She challenged the crowd to get ready to follow Jesus’ command to go and do good deeds.
