Finance director Rob Romo said the deadline for claiming the property tax was extended that was originally set on January 31. He said taxpayers of Bradly Village could get a cash rebate. It is estimated $1.5 million to $1.6 million has already been returned to taxpayers. Meanwhile, about $600,000 are left to claim for the residents.

Mayor Mike Watson has given the green light from Bradley Village trustees to change the deadline to the end of February. Romo also said that the village could accept more than 4,000 applications.

Officials said Bradley Village can still accept up to 4,000 applicants to claim the property tax refund.

How to Apply?

An applicant must be a resident of Bradly Village, pay the 2021 property tax, and fill out the application form. The Village officials said the application requirements must be complete and accurate. A resolution approved by the Village’s Board of Trustees has indicated that approved applicants can get up to 100% tax rebate on the property taxes they paid.

The application form can be accessed on this website. It should be noted that the application form and the proof of bill should be sent via mail, either through a Kankee County Property Tax Inquiry. Both documents should be mailed to the following address:

147 S. Michigan Ave. Bradley, IL. 60915

Village officials estimated that the process of rebate checks would be complete by March 2023. Mayor Watson also affirmed it is unlikely to have a second deadline extension, The U.S. Sun reported.

Rebates in Other States

Other states also offer rebates for their taxpayers. In Idaho, the state sends out $300 to $600 rebates, depending on filing status, to its qualified taxpayer. Eligible taxpayers in California are expected to receive a rebate from their Middle-Class Tax Refund. The amount of rebate ranges from $200 to $1,050.

Government officials urge Americans to submit their tax returns. Taxpayers who want to receive their payments by March should submit their tax returns until February 15.
