The Unwanted Alien Transport Program would be administered in the Division of Emergency Management within the Executive Office of the Governor under House Bill 5B.
This follows the last year’s migration of a group of South American migrants from Texas to Massachusetts’ Martha’s Vineyard.
According to David Metellus of the Florida Immigrant Coalition, this would be harmful to families and our industry.
“What we need to know is that the majority of migrants that come here are fleeing socialist, murderous, or harsh dictatorships, and they are largely from Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Haiti,” Metellus added. “These individuals are looking for shelter whenever they travel to this nation.” “When we discuss Florida and the financial effects that immigrant populations have there, there is $8.1 billion in earnings from immigrants – 437,000 small company founders are immigrants in Florida, which indicates one out of every 3 self-employed business entrepreneurs there is an immigrant.”
According to the law, it would reduce “uncontrollable stress on local resources to manage the enormous flow of unauthorized aliens” and “the potential for harmful consequences like increased crime, lower economic possibilities and earnings for American workers.”
Following the flights to Martha’s Vineyard, there was legal difficulty because the $12 million money used to pay for them was only meant to transfer migrants out of Florida, never Texas or another state. The new legislation would provide the group with an additional $10 million.
