A recent military intelligence report claims that Russian attacks on Ukrainian ground targets reveal “dysfunction” in Moscow’s long-range missile systems.
A Dnipro apartment was struck by a Russian missile on Saturday in the city’s center. Where the apartment building should have been, images and video from the scene revealed a blank area covered in rubble and smoke.
The regional governor of Dnipropetrovsk, Valentyn Reznichenko, reported on Tuesday morning that there had been 44 deaths, including 5 kids, and 79 injuries. 39 additional people were reported as “saved.” 44 people were already killed, according to a Facebook post made on Tuesday by Borys Filatov, the city’s mayor.
According to the military forces of Ukraine, a Kh-22 missile was launched to carry out the attack. As Ukrainska Pravda, a representative for the Ukrainian Air Force stated on Ukrainian television that the Kh-22, also known as the “carrier killer,” was “built to smash aircraft carrier groups at sea.” The missile can carry a nuclear payload and is launched from a Tu-22M3 long-range bomber, according to spokesman Yurii Ihnat.
The attack on the city of Dnipro was “very likely” performed by the Kh-22, also known as the AS-4 KITCHEN big anti-ship missile, according to a report from the U.K. Ministry of Defense on Tuesday morning.
