BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (TCD) — A 19-year-old man was brutally shot at the Mall of America. According to the news, five people were arrested, including three juveniles, in connection with the man’s death before Christmas Eve.

Bloomington Police tweeted on Dec. 23 and said that they went to the scene after they were reported that there is a shooting happening at the Mall of America, which they subsequently placed the mall on lockdown. According to KMSP-TV, the shooting happened inside Nordstrom at around 7:50 p.m.

The police arrived and found a male suffering from gunshot injuries, and later on, he was declared dead at the scene. From KMSP-TV reports the Bloomington Police said a group of people got into an argument which led to a fight, it was then escalated into gunfire.

On Dec. 24 before Christmas Eve, Booker Hodges the Bloomington Police Chief announced officers from a combined SWAT Team went to a residence in Saint Louis Park and took five people into custody, three of them were 17-year-old juveniles and the other two suspects were reportedly 18 years old.

5 Teens Were Arrested: All Were Reportedly Charged With Second-Degree Murder

According to a published post by True Crime Daily, Bloomington Police stated that the two adult suspects were named Taeshawn Adams Wright and Deandre Antioun Depratt, both 18-year-olds.

Police Chief Hodges said he believes there was a long-standing rivalry between the 5 suspects and the victim. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 19-year-old as John Hudson. The cause of his death was multiple gunshot wounds and the way of his death was listed as homicide.

The sister of Hudson, Ja’Nayea Hudson, told KARE-TV that the victim Johntae went to the mall to find and buy a sweater to go with his shoes to go to his friend’s birthday that night.

The Hodges said at the press conference, that whoever did that to their dead family Johntae, the Hodges will catch them and whoever helps the suspects, the Hodges said that they will lock them up behind bars. The investigation of the tragedy remains ongoing.
