According to a report last week from the Republicans on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), COVID-19 could be connected to a Chinese biological weapons program. The report does not suggest that the virus’s spread was planned.
The Unusual Origin of SARS and New Species of Artificial Humanized Viruses as Genetic Weapons, a book featuring the benefits of biological weapons, was published in 2015, according to the report, by the Academy of Military Medical Science (AMMS), a medical science program associated with the Chinese military.
According to the House investigation, the writers of the book explained how to produce coronaviruses and why they should be used as weapons. The AMMS book also claims that biological weapons are “stealthy and hard to collect evidence.”
The AMMS book also said, the use of modern genetic weapons was designed to spark a political conflict and “cause the enemy’s medical system to collapse,” rather than for simply military purposes.
Additionally, according to the book, coronavirus biological weapons have the power to “throw (the enemy’s) thoughts into a condition of confusion in which they cannot realize the true situation.”
The 5th Institute of the Wuhan Institute of Virology was allegedly doing “secret research, including laboratory animal trials, for the Chinese military,” according to the report. General Zhou Yusen, the Fifth Institute’s director of science, “has worked actively on coronavirus research for numerous years,” based on the report.
