The local officials in Jacksonville, Florida have set aside an amount of $3 million for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program to make sure that residents will meet their ends.

The global pandemic and the increasing inflation rate have become the indicators that put millions of Americans to become at-risk of being homeless or evicted from their rented house. But the local officials in Jacksonville, Florida found a way to help its residents.

An amount between $3,500 to $4,000 rental assistance program will be given to the eligible residents provided that they can hit the deadline on or before 5:00 p.m. on Dec.5. They can apply online or text APPLY to 211904, according to a published article in The U.S. Sun.

Furthermore, if you qualify for this program, you will receive assistance with a combined 12 months of past-due rent and/or utilities. It is for this reason that residents are advised to act quickly and apply online or by text as soon as possible.

How To Become Eligible?

According to the same source of news, one or more members in the following should meet the following requirements:

  • Qualified for unemployment or incurred significant financial loss due directly or indirectly to COVID-19
  • Risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability such as past due rent or utilities, an eviction notice, and unsafe or unhealthy living conditions
  • The household has a household income that is not more than 80 percent of the area median income (AMI)

Households whose income is below 50 percent of the AMI or have at least one member that has been unemployed for at least 90 days will be prioritized.
