SNAP Benefits in Michigan
Michigan is one of the states in the country that decided to continue and increased the amount of SNAP benefits starting this month. It is estimated that around 1.3 million individuals or more than 700,000 households will benefit from it.
In a published article in ABC 12 News, eligible recipients started receiving their additional food assistance on Nov. 21 through their Bridge Cards. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said that the additional benefits will help families afford food during holidays.
In a statement, she said, “This extra $95 will help families get a little breathing room as we enter the holiday season. I will continue to work with anyone at the federal and state level to help Michiganders put food on the table and keep their hard-earned dollars to pay for other critical household expenses.”

How Much Are You Going To Receive?
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has already increased the amount of SNAP benefits to 12.5 percent this fall due to the soaring inflation rate. The inflation increase is based on an annual increase in the USDA’s Thrifty Food Plan calculated in June and this is the highest so far since 1975.
An individual will now receive from $31 to $281 per month and $124 to $1,116 per month for a family of five. Additionally, all households eligible for the SNAP benefits will receive the maximum increase of at least $95 per month.
