Millions of Americans across the country will receive an amount of $914 today. Originally, it is $814 but the Supplemental Security Income payment was increased because of the soaring inflation rate. However, the amount that eligible American will receive varies depending on the state where he or she lives.
The Supplemental Security Income is different from Social Security Income. The amount of Supplemental Security Income has will increase this year but the amount varies in the state where eligible American life because there are some states which add the amount of the payment while others chose not to.
This check is normally deposited every 1st day of the month but January 1 falls on a Sunday and is a holiday, some received their payments on Dec. 30. Meanwhile, other beneficiaries do not need to worry because their Supplemental Security Income will arrive today, according to The U.S. Sun.
Who is Eligible for the SSI?
Anyone can apply for the SSI but you may potentially get less money if you have other income such as wages, pensions, or Social Security Benefits. Likewise, if anyone pays for the household expenses or if you live with a spouse who has a source of income, you may also get less money. Generally, you need to be a U.S. citizen or a national in the country to qualify for this payment.
