‘Live’ welcomed Kelly Ripa in 2001

Following the resignation of Regis Philbin’s longstanding co-host Kathie Lee Gifford, Kelly auditioned for the Live co-host position while still working successfully on All My Children. Her early years, nevertheless, weren’t exactly carefree. With Kathie Lee’s departure, Kelly had a lot of ground to make up when she first arrived. On-air auditions were held for a rotating cast of co-hosts, including Jerry O’Connell, Nick Lachey, and Neil Patrick Harris. Michael Strahan, a former NFL player, was chosen for the position.

Ryan, the presenter of American Idol, took over as Strahan’s long-term replacement in 2017 after Michael abruptly resigned and relocated to Good Morning America. The two were well-liked. However, Ryan made it known that, after six seasons, he would be departing his position.
