$500,000 SNAP Benefit Scam: Oklahoma’s Out Added An Amount Of $500,000 In Profit Scam

Oklahoma’s Department of Human Services states that since the 18th of December, tons of Oklahoma’s residents have been influenced by a card gliding hoax targeting low-income residents using SNAP or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Michale Adams, a special agent in charge of the investigation at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Offices of the Inspector General said that the victims have viewed an added loss amounting to about $500,000. In an unfortunate situation, these scammers are putting many residents in a difficult position this season of holiday.

According to a published post by KFOR, Barbara North, an OKC resident, reported to KPOR that on the first day of the week, Monday, at night, she went shopping to buy Christmas food at Walmart for herself and her grandchildren, despite knowing she had $116 on her EBT card to spend.

Here’s how to avoid skimming and protect your SNAP EBT benefits according to the Department of Human Services.

1. Change your PIN

• All SNAP consumers must change their PIN password by ringing 1-888-328-6551 or type on your browser connectebt.com.

2. As a SNAP consumer you should:

• Keep your pin password for SNAP EBT private. Do not let anyone know of your password unless they are part of your family.
