4-Year-Old Boy Shoots Himself in the Head In Front of His 2-Year-Old Sister in Muncie

A man and his girlfriend were charged and arrested after a 4-year-old boy found a gun inside a dollhouse and shot himself in front of her 2-year-old sister.

4-Year-Old Boy Found the Gun Inside a Dollhouse

The Muncie Police Department responded to a home in Burlington Drive after they received a call that a child shot himself. When the police officers arrived at the scene, they found the 4-year-old boy with a gunshot wound in the head.

According to a report published in TRUE CRIME DAILY, police interviewed Joseph Jackson, 19 years old and the boyfriend of the mother of the 4-year-old boy, who told them that he helped her girlfriend Alycia Smith to take care of her two children.

Jackson told the authorities that he left his 9 mm Glock 19 in a dollhouse in the home. He also added that he kept the gun without the holster in the dollhouse. He rushed upstairs when he heard a gunshot coming from the second floor and he saw the boy bleeding.

4-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Accessed the Gun

It was found during the investigation that the boy accidentally accessed the gun. The 4-year0old boy was able to see the gun through the windows of the dollhouse. Meanwhile, police said that Jackson and Smith did not take any precautionary measures to secure the firearm.

Smith also admitted that she knew the gun was in the dollhouse and they have been arguing about securely storing the gun to protect the children. During the search, the authorities found a large gun safe on the first floor that could have been used to safely store the firearm.

Furthermore, both of them were arrested and charged. They were booked into the Delaware County Jail. Charges include neglect of a dependent resulting in death and felony neglect of a dependent.
