The American One-Time Payment

The law requires specific notices to consumers when processing the sale of their data under certain circumstances. Kiplinger allegedly failed to do so when required by law and reportedly shared subscriber information without their consent.  The publisher allegedly disclosed subscription information to multiple third parties before July 2016.

You qualify for the one-time payment if you purchased a subscription to the Kiplinger Personal Finance Magazine, The Kiplinger Letter, the Kiplinger Investing for Income, The Kiplinger Tax Letter, or the Kiplinger Retirement Report. You qualify for the one-time payment if you purchased a subscription to the Kiplinger Personal Finance Magazine, The Kiplinger Letter, the Kiplinger Investing for Income, The Kiplinger Tax Letter, or the Kiplinger Retirement Report.

Those eligible may receive one-time payments anywhere between $400 and $500. According to the settlement, Enterprise Leasing Co. of Chicago or Enterprise Rent-A-Car Co. Midwest LLC violated what’s called the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). In other words, the company allegedly violated BIPA by not disclosing or getting consumer consent before requiring workers to use their fingerprints to clock in and out of work.
