Biden’s Official Declaration of Candidacy

The Sun reported that President Biden is pushing for re-election as he filed his declaration of candidacy on Friday, March 31. He became the president in 2020 after defeating former president Donald Trump. Last December, there have been plans for re-election already from Biden’s camp although it remained unclear due to his health.

Biden has been in politics for more than 40 years, serving as vice president under former president Barack Obama from January 2009 to January 2017. But under his four years in office, Biden has advocated for lower gas prices and student loan forgiveness, as well as many other programs for the military and economy.

For now, only the president and the American self-help author Mariane Williamson have filed their candidacy under the Democratic nomination. Meanwhile, Donald Trump, Nikki Haley, and Vivek Ramaswamy are set to compete for the Republican nomination. Former Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has not formally announced his candidacy although he told Piers Morgan to tune in on his widely anticipated announcement.

2024 Presidential Election Might Be Harris’ Time to Shine

Democrats still see an opportunity for her in the 2024 presidential election despite talks about Harris disappointing her party, Reuters reported. She is expected to campaign alongside Biden but with a focus on women and minority groups with whom she has connected well during her first term as vice president.

Lis Smith, a Democrat strategist, said that the re-election could be Harris’ moment to shine. More so, the party believes she will help boost Biden’s candidacy  Given the president’s health concerns, Harris could succeed him if he becomes ill or fails to fulfill his duties.
