Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce announces candidate endorsementsMai Nguyen Do October 1, 2018 0 COMMENTS
On Monday Oct. 1, the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce announced its endorsements for candidates running in federal, state, regional and local races to represent the city and surrounding areas.
“The Chamber is pleased to endorse a group of candidates for office which we feel best represents the business interests of the Santa Clarita Valley,” Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Troy Hooper said. “We appreciated the diversity of voices, breadth of new ideas, fresh thoughts and leadership displayed by those running for office.”
The chamber’s endorsements include incumbents Congressman Steve Knight of the 25th Congressional District, Assemblyman Dante Acosta of the 38th Assembly District, Los Angeles County Assessor Jeffrey Prang and Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell.
The chamber has also endorsed in local races, including campaigns for the Santa Clarita City Council, the College of the Canyon Board of Trustees, and two of three Santa Clarita school district governing boards.
The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce endorsed Mayor Laurene Weste, Mayor Pro-Tem Marsha McLean and Councilman Bill Miranda for Santa Clarita City Council.
The chamber also endorsed incumbent Bob Jenson for William S. Hart Union High School Governing Board Area 2.
The chamber has endorsed only two challengers: Ann-Marie Bjorkman, who is running in College of the Canyons Board of Trustees Region 5, and Sharlene Duzick, who is running in Saugus Union School District Governing Board Area 5.
