Coronavirus infections are still on the rise in some regions of the United States, but there are no indications that another stimulus check is on the way. However, if Governor Kathy Hochul’s current plan is passed, many New Yorkers may receive a cash increase of over $1,000. This coronavirus stimulus check from New York will be a property tax rebate, thus it will only help homeowners.

On January 18, Governor Cuomo announced her proposals for a New York coronavirus stimulus check to homeowners in her first budget proposal since taking office in 2021. Hochul intends to utilize $2.2 billion of the state’s estimated $5 billion surpluses to provide a property tax credit to households earning up to $250,000 per year.

According to Entrepreneur, the Homeowner Tax Rebate Credit, which would be given to low- and middle-income families, would be the name of this property tax relief. It would only be available to those who pay property taxes.

Parents may still receive $1,400 stimulus checks

According to the IRS, all third-round stimulus payments have been sent to eligible Americans. New parents and other beneficiaries who gained dependents in 2021, on the other hand, may still be eligible for extra funds.

The payments, which range from $1,400 to $1,800 per individual, were made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act, a pandemic-relief package enacted by Democrats in March.

The IRS also made two additional Economic Impact Payments (of up to $1,200 and $600) that were permitted by previous bipartisan relief measures. Households’ eligibility and amount money received were determined by their income and other restrictions.

Although some $1,400 payments may still be in the mail, the IRS said that monies from the first, second, and third waves are no longer being issued. Through December 31, the IRS distributed more than 175 million third-round payments to families totaling more than $400 billion, as per CNBC.
