$1,700 Inflation Relief Check Hits the Bank; Maine Gov. Janet Mills Says

Maine Gov. Janet Mills announced that an amount of between $850 to $1,700 relief checks have bent sent to the eligible residents in the state.

Inflation Relief Check in Maine

States across the country have different ways to support their residents amidst the soaring and increasing inflation rate. One of these is by giving inflation relief checks which was funded through the taxpayers’ money. In Maine, Gov. Janet Mills announced that an amount of between $850 to $1,700 have been released.

Gov. Mills said, “I am pleased that my Administration was able to deliver one of the strongest inflation relief measures in the nation to help Maine people through this difficult time. In a published article on the official website of Gov. Janet Mills, it was mentioned that the inflation relief check is a one-time payment.  It is also estimated that around 850,000 residents in the state are eligible to receive the checks. Single filers would receive $850 while married couples jointly filing their tax would receive $1,700.

99 Percent Have Already Received the Inflation Relief Check

Around 99 percent of the eligible recipients have already received the inflation relief checks. Maine Revenue Services will continue processing checks as paper tax returns arrive in the mail and are vetted.

Kirsten Figueroa, Commissioner of the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, said, “At the direction of Governor Mills, we worked hard to reach Maine residents, including our seniors, who may not typically file income taxes to make sure they also received this important inflation relief. In the coming weeks, we’ll process any outstanding tax returns and work hard to ensure that every eligible Maine person benefits from this important program.”
